As budget-friendly smartphones go, the CMF Phone 1 by Nothing made quite the splash, so naturally some expectations were set for what to expect in a sequel. The company has since shared the first major teaser of the next phone, presumably called the Phone 2, hinting at a pretty surprising change.
On the official CMF by Nothing account on X, the sub-brand posted a four-second clip showing what can only be described as a single camera at the back of the phone. It does come with a cutout below it, but it looks so opaque that it looks like a dummy. But considering this is a teaser, it could be a deliberate misdirection attempt.
According to 9to5Google, leaked images of what the CMF Phone 2 would look like have already made the rounds. And the official teaser looks to show what looks like a third camera on the leak, paired with an LED flash. It’s not implausible that the teaser has deliberately cut off the two other sensors on the left, as depicted by the leaked images.
Either way, while leaks should usually be taken with a pinch of salt anyway, this teaser has done an effective job at messing with the perception created by said leak. The presumed CMF Phone 2 is “coming soon”, so we’ll know for sure at some point down the line.
