One of the things we’ve heard about the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is that the South Korean tech giant may be going back to using its own Exynos chipsets for next year’s flaghips. It’s been nearly 11 months since the previous claim, but it looks like another leakster has echoed the sentiment, with a contradictory twist.

Frequent leakster @Jukanlosreve has claimed on X that “the Exynos 2600 is definitely back and it will be used in the S26”. The twist here is also the mention that “the chip volume is so limited that it’ll likely be similar to the Exynos 990 situation”. This is possibly referring to the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series, which only got Qualcomm Snapdragon chips in the US, Canada, China, Japan and South Korea.

The Exynos 2600 is definitely back and it will be used in the S26.

But the chip volume is so limited that it’ll likely be similar to the Exynos 990 situation.

I’m not sure if SF2 is actually any good.

On one hand, it makes sense to some degree that, if the Exynos 2600 chip is going to be limited in volume, that some markets will still be getting Snapdragons. But on the flip side, the chip being limited suggests that the Exynos variant of the Samsung Galaxy S26 will be the minority model, where the “Exynos 990 situation” seemed like the opposite.

That being said, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series was probably already a taste of what’s to come. For context, only the Ultra model got a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the other two models may get the same or the Exynos 2400 depending on the market. Either way, there’s still enough time between now and the S26 launching that we shouldn’t be holding our breath for it either way.
