The Ministry of Communications today announced the RAHMAH rebate incentive, a special offer providing an additional minimum data quota of 5GB for all Malaysian telecommunications service users on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Its minister, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, stated that the incentive applies to both prepaid and postpaid users, with the additional data being valid for 24 hours, subject to the terms and conditions set by the respective telecommunications service providers.
Fahmi said the efforts of the ministry, in collaboration with telecommunications service providers, align with the government’s goal of providing benefits to the public. He added that this initiative also aims to strengthen relationships through online communication during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. The participating telcos include CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, TM Tech, YTL Communications, Pavo Comms, Tune Talk, redONE, REDtone, and XOX Com.

When asked about the cost of implementing the incentive, the Comms minister confirmed that all aforementioned service providers are fully bearing the cost of the RAHMAH rebate incentive, with no government subsidies involved. He clarified that the subsidies and incentives are not covered by the government, adding that Malaysia currently has approximately 45 million registered telecommunications accounts.
Fahmi added that further information regarding the Aidilfitri RAHMAH rebate incentive will be announced by the respective telcos soon. Additionally, a FAQ page concerning this incentive is available on the Ministry of Communications’ official website, where users can find details regarding eligibility, availability and terms.
