Fujifilm has introduced the GFX100RF, a compact yet powerful addition to its GFX lineup, featuring a 102MP medium-format sensor paired with a fixed 35mm f/4 lens (28mm full-frame equivalent). Designed as a high-resolution street camera, the GFX100RF brings medium-format imaging to a smaller form factor while maintaining advanced features typically found in larger mirrorless systems.
The GFX100RF borrows its sensor from the GFX100 II, ensuring exceptional image quality with a resolution of 11,648 x 8,736 pixels. Despite its compact design, the camera weighs 1.62 pounds (735 grams), making it heavier than some full-frame mirrorless models. Fujifilm has constructed the body from a single block of aluminium, reinforcing its premium build quality, with precisely machined dials and a bottom plate that exudes durability.
A notable feature of the GFX100RF is its dedicated aspect ratio dial, allowing users to choose from nine formats, including 7:6, 1:1, 3:4, 16:9, 17:6, and the widescreen 65:24 “XPan” ratio. Additionally, a tele-converter selector on the front of the camera enables digital focal length adjustments from 35mm to 45mm, 63mm, and 80mm (full-frame equivalent of 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 65mm, respectively), though this results in a reduction in resolution. To assist with framing, the “Surround View” function overlays a semi-transparent frame displaying areas outside the active image.
The lens construction consists of 10 elements arranged in eight groups, including two aspherical elements, designed to minimise spherical aberration and field curvature. A newly developed “nano-GI” coating further reduces internal reflections for improved image clarity. The camera also supports close focusing up to 7.9 inches (20 cm), opening possibilities for detailed macro photography.
One of the key differences from other GFX models is the use of a leaf shutter instead of a traditional focal plane shutter. This design helps reduce camera size while ensuring quieter operation and minimal vibration, allowing for steadier handheld shots. The GFX100RF is also the first GFX camera to incorporate a built-in four-stop ND filter, which is particularly useful for controlling exposure in bright conditions.
Autofocus performance is powered by the same predictive AF system found in the GFX100 II, featuring face and eye detection along with recognition capabilities for animals, vehicles, birds, and airplanes. The mechanical shutter enables burst shooting at up to 6 fps. The electronic viewfinder (EVF) boasts a 5.76-million-dot resolution and is offset to the left for a rangefinder-style shooting experience. A 3.1-inch two-axis tilting touchscreen provides additional flexibility for composing shots.

Beyond stills, the GFX100RF is capable of capturing 4K 30fps 4:2:2 10-bit video, with support for F-Log2, delivering up to 13+ stops of dynamic range. Other features include dual SD card slots, a USB-C port, mic and headphone jacks, and a micro HDMI connector. The camera also supports SSD recording and Frame.io camera-to-cloud integration.
The GFX100RF is priced at $4,900 (~RM21,645) in the US, and is available in black or silver colour options. No local pricing yet, but Fujifilm will be showcasing the camera at select Malaysian retailers, including J One Camera and YL Camera, starting 21 March 2025.
