Have you ever went on an online game, and felt like you’re playing with or against a cheater? Or if you’re playing with or against a bot? Gaming peripheral brand Razer thinks that the latter will be proliferating in the era of AI, so it has announced an initiative that would ensure that the population of a game’s players remain human. It’s called “Razer ID verified by World ID”, and as the name suggests, it’s in collaboration with World ID.
The idea behind the initiative is to make it so that players confirm that they are human before jumping onto a game, while still letting you maintain privacy. This is where tech by World ID comes in, with the claim being that the tech can “anonymously confirm a person’s uniqueness”, and that is enough proof that said person is not a bot.
If you’re an enthusiast of the crypto space, then you’re probably aware that the second name in the partnership is involved in a cryptocurrency initiative called Worldcoin. Which may explain to some extent why Razer ID verified by World ID will first be integrated into Tokyo Beast, a blockchain game with NFTs.
For now, no other titles have been revealed to make use of Razer ID verified by World ID, but for what it’s worth, Malaysia is among the countries the tool is available in.
