Following the apparent success between Super Mario and LEGO, the toy brick brand is collaborating with Nintendo again for another crossover. Well, this time with Creatures and Game Freak, as the new collab features the world’s biggest entertainment franchise, Pokemon.
While The LEGO Group and The Pokemon Company have announced the collaboration, the only real form of detail that was shared was that the first products as a result of the collab will materialise next year. Other bits include that it would be “a multi-year partnership”, but that doesn’t really say much. After all, LEGO Super Mario also ended up being a multi-year thing, with plenty of sets as a result.
Of course, if you have a rich library of bricks already, and have a much better imagination than your peers, you could already build LEGO Pokemon of your own. Plenty of inspiration can be drawn from the official pixel art from older, Game Boy era of games too.
The official teaser for the LEGO Pokemon collaboration includes the simple brick design of a yellow thunderbolt, or as many would also recognise as the tail of a male Pikachu. No doubt Pokedex number 25 will be dominating the range of sets, with Eevee maybe being the distant second, and every other mon of the now 1,025-strong cast to be fighting for scraps. Hopefully the collab proves us wrong.
