With Samsung already teasing its Galaxy S25 Edge, the company has more or less confirmed that it is committing to releasing an ultra-thin phone. But even before that, rumours of an iPhone 17 Air have been floating around. Recent rumours are pointing at HONOR also leaning into the ultra-thin device trend.
Frequent leakster Digital Chat Station has put put a post on Chinese social media Weibo that essentially just that. The post is phrased in an odd way post machine translation, but the claim being made is that “a new folder has been created” for a “slim, ultra-thin device. This suggest that it’s something that’s in early stages of development, and it will be awhile before it gets sold, if it even happens.
Also mentioned in the post is a 6.3-inch screen sized. That being said, it’s unclear whether this is referring to the same device or something else that’s closer to completion. The machine translation of this part of the post notes that it’s a “flagship” that “is being polished”, for what it’s worth.
On that note, it’s also entirely possible that the post is not talking about the HONOR brand at all. In Chinese, the brand is written as 荣耀, whereas the post starts of by mentioning 耀子, the second character usually used when referring to a name in a more informal or affectionate way. With all that in mind, the whole thing should be taken with more of a grain of salt than even the usual.
