realme Showcases Interchangeable-Lens Concept At MWC 2025

Not exactly an original one, if you've been following the industry for long enough.

As many as there are retail products being launched at MWC 2025, there are about just as many concept devices being showcased as well. One of these is from realme, in the form of what the company simply calls the Interchangeable-lens Concept.

If you’ve been following the tech advancements in the mobile phone industry, you’ll know that this is not a particularly original idea. But realme claims that the Interchangeable-lens Concept makes use of “DSLR lenses”, even if it does have a proprietary lens mount system.

Little else has been shared about the realme Interchangeable-lens Concept, beyond the fact that it uses a 1-inch “customised” Sony sensor, and the two lenses are of the 73mm portrait and 234mm telephoto variety. There’s also what we’d chalk up to as an odd coincidence that the concept device has the same colour scheme, but not material, texture and branding, of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra in Silver Chrome. Incidentally, the concept is also referred to as the Ultra in some instances.

The press release sent out by the brand also mentions something interesting, in that the realme Interchangeable-lens Concept is “not yet mass-produced”. I’ll leave it up to you, dear readers, whether that’s an optimistic or suggestive statement. But I personally wouldn’t hold my breath for a commercial product of this nature being released anytime soon, if ever.
