WhatsApp has released a new beta update (2.25.5.21) that’s made available to certain users through the Google Play Beta Program. New features were spotted in this version of the app, among them being the enabling of emoji reactions during a video call.
In a similar fashion to Google Meet, the new WhatsApp beta allows only a handful of emoji reactions, such as the thumbs up, heart, and prayer hands, to be used during a video call. The Raise Hand feature is also made available in the beta, which particularly useful when you wish to ask a question during a video call without having to interrupt the person speaking.

To access this feature, tap on the three dots found in the bottom bar. Then, simply tap on your chosen emoji reaction. According to the screenshot shared by Android Authority, other options available here include “Share screen” and “Send message”, which are common options to have for video calls.
For now, there is no confirmation as to when these features will be made available for the general WhatsApp user base. It is also possible that these features will not make it to the app’s general release.
