Samsung has officially announced the 9100 Pro, right after its India office mistakenly broke its silence on it. The NVMe SSD is the brand’s first and long-awaited PCIe 5.0 entry, offering the average sequential speeds one would expect from said high-end storage device.

Specs-wise, the 9100 Pro boasts average sequential read and write speeds of 14,800MB/s and 13,400MB/s, plus random read and write speeds of 2,200K and 2,600K IOPS, respectively. It is also 49% more power efficient than its predecessor.

Samsung is also offering the 9100 Pro both with or without a heatsink. In the case of the latter, the piece of metal attached to the SSD is considerably thinner than the massive chunk of metal attached to the MSI Spatium M570 Pro Frozr that we reviewed early last year.

More importantly, it is the first Samsung NVMe SSD to up be available in capacities of up to 8TB, double the usual offering from the company.

As for global availability and pricing, the 9100 Pro will be available from March onward starting at US$199.99 (~RM884) for 1TB, US$299.99 (~RM1,326) for 2TB, US$549.99 (~RM2,432) for 4TB, while the 8TB model will only be available during the second half of this year. At the time of writing, local availability and pricing was not readily available.
