The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has introduced a new feature in the MyJPJ application, allowing Probationary Driving Licence (PDL) holders to convert their licences to a Competent Driving Licence (CDL) entirely online. This update eliminates the need for applicants to visit JPJ offices, providing a more convenient and efficient alternative.
According to JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, the feature is expected to benefit approximately 2.38 million eligible PDL holders. By enabling online applications, the department aims to simplify the process, allowing users to apply for a CDL anytime and anywhere via their smartphones.
The integration of this feature is also expected to reduce congestion at JPJ service counters, streamlining overall operations. Aedy Fadly highlighted that the new system is designed to be user-friendly, time-saving, and flexible, making it easier for drivers to transition from a probationary to a full licence without unnecessary delays.
To utilise this new feature, users need to log into the MyJPJ app on their Android or iOS devices, ensuring it is updated to the latest version. They should then select the ‘CDL Application’ option, choose the licence validity period, complete the required payment, and await notification regarding their application status.
