The vivo Y28s was launched locally around the middle of the year, and now a successor has been unveiled. The new model is called the Y29, which does most of everything the preceding model did well, with the expected incremental upgrades.
On its spec sheet, the vivo Y29 comes with a 6.68-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1,000 nits peak brightness. Inside, there’s the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip, powered by a 5,500 mAh battery that supports 44W charging. Worth noting though is that you’re not getting the latest and greatest in software here, as it runs Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14.
The camera setup on the vivo Y29 is an odd one, with the rear pair being a 50MP main + 0.08MP unspecified unit. In front, an 8MP shooter sits in a punch hole cutout. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and ruggedness ratings of MIL-STD-810H and IP64.
Based on its Indian listing, the Y29 has four configurations with memory and storage configurations of 4GB + 128GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB. These, in turn, are priced at INR13,999 (~RM737), INR15,499 (~RM816), INR16,999 (~RM896) and INR18,999 (~RM1,001) respectively. For whatever reason, should you want the first two configs in Titanium Gold specifically, there’s a IN2,500 (~RM132) premium on top. No word on a local release yet.
