Proton has announced initial pricing details for its first production electric vehicle, the Proton e.MAS 7, that is set to launch in December. While final pricing has not been confirmed, the starting price for the EV is projected at around RM120,000, and bookings are now open. The e.MAS 7 will be available in two variants: the entry-level Prime and the more advanced Premium.

Both e.MAS 7 models come equipped with an 11kW AC onboard charger and offer Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities at 3.3kW and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) at 6kW. Battery capacity distinguishes the two variants, impacting driving range. The e.MAS 7 Prime, with a 49.52kWh battery, has a WLTP-rated range of 345km, while the Premium version features a 60.22kWh battery, providing up to 410km of range.

The EVs support fast DC charging, though with varying power outputs: the Prime allows up to 80kW, while the Premium supports up to 100kW. Despite these differences, both models can charge from 30% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes.

Both variants feature a 160kW (215hp) electric motor positioned at the front, delivering 320Nm of torque. Using an Aegis Short Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, the e.MAS 7 can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 6.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 175km/h. The Prime variant comes with 18-inch wheels fitted with Giti 225/55 tyres, while the Premium sports 19-inch wheels with Goodyear 235/50 tyres.

Inside, the e.MAS 7 offers leatherette seating, a powered driver’s seat, and a two-spoke steering wheel with antibacterial protection. A 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.4-inch 2.5K infotainment touchscreen, powered by a 7nm automotive-grade chip and Flyme Auto OS, come standard. Safety features include six airbags, an automatic headlight, Active High Beam Control, a rain sensor for the front wiper, and a 360-degree camera.

Both e.MAS 7 variants come standard with a comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite. Key features include Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Dynamic Brake Support (DBS), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Emergency Lane Keeping Assist (ELKA), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Braking (RCTB), and Traffic Sign Identification (TSI).

The Premium variant includes additional features such as a Wanos 16-speaker audio system (compared to the Prime’s 6-speaker system), a panoramic sunroof with a sunshade, power tailgate, active grille shutter, auto-dimming rearview mirror, powered front passenger seat, memory function for the driver’s seat, and ventilated front seats. Ambient lighting with 256 colours, a head-up display (HUD), and a front parking sensor add to the Premium’s appeal.

The e.MAS 7 offers a total of 33 storage compartments, including a drawer under the rear passenger seats with a 3.5kg weight capacity and a 51L underfloor storage area in the boot. The car is available in five exterior colours: Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose, Platinum Silver, and Lithium White. Interior trim comes in Indigo Blue.

Bookings for the e.MAS 7 are now open at Proton e.MAS dealers and the official e.MAS website, requiring a booking fee of RM500. Customers can also book through the new Proton e.MAS app that’s currently available on iOS, with versions for Android and Huawei devices to be available soon.
