Transport minister Anthony Loke has ordered the road transport department (JPJ) to remove the mandatory MyDigital ID login requirement for the MyJPJ application. Speaking to reporters during a press conference earlier today, he clarified that the ministry has not decided to implement the change, adding that the pop-up notice on the app was not an official announcement.
“I have ordered for the pop-up to be removed immediately as there has been no decision on it yet by the ministry,” Loke said. “We support integration efforts between MyDigital ID and MyJPJ, but it has to be done seamlessly.”
The minister mentioned that the previously stated 10 October deadline has been cancelled, therefore users can access the MyJPJ app as per usual. He also acknowledged the numerous complaints from the public regarding the surprise announcement that came with the app’s latest update earlier this week.
While no longer required, it appears that the MyDigital ID implementation on the MyJPJ app could surface again in the future. Loke noted that the backend integration between both applications will take some time and be done in stages, though no exact timeframe on its potential reintroduction has been given.
