CelcomDigi and U Mobile have partnered up with ZTE to set up new 5G-Advanced (5G-A) infrastructure in Sarawak, in preparation for the SUKMA 2024 games that kicks off this Saturday. Live trials have already been conducted, with the setup achieving mobile speeds of up to 30.8 Gbps and and individual user speeds of 8.5 Gbps.

“This achievement reflects the importance of industry collaboration and partnerships, especially in realising the potentials of 5G and 5G-A. We continue to execute on our multi-partner strategy of bringing together the best technologies from the East and West to deliver the best experiences to Malaysians, and enable the nation’s transformation into a 5G-AI powered digital society. We achieved a milestone today and will continue to focus on leading the development and deployment at scale.” Datuk Idham Nawawi, CelcomDigi CEO, said.

CelcomDigi, U Mobile, and ZTE’s 5G-A infrastructure and technology is nothing short of impressive. The telcos and their technology partner hopes will also be the first group to do a live broadcast from the Opening Ceremony of SUKMA 2024 in Sarawak via 5G-A, to viewers across the nation through Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM). Viewers will be able to enjoy dynamic and immersive experience as the broadcast will consist of high-resolution streams with minimal delay. For the broadcasters like RTM, it will also be the first time where they are able to capture the best footage, all via a wireless ecosystem offering them more flexibility and ability to do real-time coverage.
