After its appearance in Chinese social media Weibo, the Redmagic 9S Pro has gotten its launch in its own home market, alongside a Pro Plus model at that. While the phones are largely similar besides the ones with the fancier name getting the better memory and storage configs, there’s also a strange trade off when it comes to battery capacity and charging rate.
Starting from the top, both versions of the Redmagic 9S Pro come with a 6.8-inch OLED 1,126 x 2,480 screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2,000Hz touch sampling rate. Their chipsets are what is known as the Leading Version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is the same chip with a higher main core clock speed, much like the 8S model. Keeping it cool is the Redmagic signature, a cooling fan which now spins up to 22,000 RPM, plus a vapour chamber and cooling gel combo.

As mentioned earlier, one of the key differences between the Redmagic 9S Pro and the Pro Plus is the battery. The former has a larger 6,500mAh battery that charges at 80W, while the latter has a 5,500mAh pack that goes up to 165W charging instead.

Despite looking like it has a triple-camera setup, the Redmagic 9S Pro and Pro Plus only sport a 50MP main + 50MP wide-angle combo at the back. In front, it has a 16MP shooter under the screen. And on the sides, of course, are the shoulder triggers, with a claimed polling rate of 520Hz.

As before, the Redmagic 9S Pro comes in black and white, as well as a Deuterium version that looks prettier, at a CNY200 (~RM130) across the board. At base, the phone has a 12GB + 256GB costing CNY4,799 (~RM3,110), while the 12GB + 512GB model starts from CNY5,199 (~RM3,369). For the Pro Plus, the option here is the 16GB + 512GB config at CNY5,799 (~RM3,758), and a 24GB + 1TB special edition which costs CNY6,999 (~RM4,536). No word for now on when these will be made available in the local market, and what their prices here will be.
