The Nubia Neo 2 5G mid-range gaming smartphone is expected to arrive in the local market soon, according to teasers shared by ZTE Malaysia on Facebook. Unlike its predecessor, one interesting feature offered by the device (and a first for this segment) are the built-in physical shoulder buttons, which are useful for certain mobile game genres such as first-person shooters and action RPGs.
It sports an updated design from last year’s Nubia Neo 5G. Apart from the aforementioned shoulder buttons, there are now octagonal bumps which house the dual camera setup. The mecha-inspired graphic on its rear panel appears to be lifted from its predecessor, though there are some slight differences. On that note, the company’s official website reveals that the phone will be available in three colourways: Sunfire Yellow, Frost Silver, and Storm Gray.
According to its currently unlisted page on Shopee, the phone comes with a larger 6.72-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 px) display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Also onboard is a stereo sound system with DTS X Ultra surround sound technology, but it appears that no 3.5mm audio jack is available judging from the visuals provided.
Under the hood, the company notes that the phone is powered by an unspecified octa-core chip with speeds of up to 2.7GHz, which is paired with 8GB RAM (expandable up to 20GB via dynamic memory) as well as up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Its battery has a massive capacity of 6,000mAh, along with AI energy saving technology and 33W fast charging support via USB-C.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, multi-layer heat dissipation structure with superconducting thermal materials, as well as Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. Imaging-wise, on the back of the phone is a 50MP camera with a 2MP depth sensor, while in front is a 16MP selfie shooter housed within the punch-hole cutout on its display.
Pricing for the Nubia Neo 2 5G has yet to be revealed, but the same Shopee Listing mentions that pre-orders are expected to be available from 23 April until 27 April 2024. It is also revealed that the first 100 orders are eligible to receive a free unit of ZTE Bluetooth Earphone, while an 18-month warranty is included as well for every purchase.
