[Original Story (Updated): 7 February 2024 – 3:41pm] Local PC brand Illegear has unveiled an update to its premium laptop, the Sapphire. Introduced as the Sapphire GX, this all-new model boasts powerful hardware, including a 14th gen Intel Raptor Lake Refresh CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs.
For starters, the laptop comes with a 17-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, an aspect ratio of 16:10, and a variable refresh rate of 240Hz. It also features a sandblasted aluminium body, a built-in mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown keys, a dual zone glass touchpad, and a FHD Windows Hello webcam.
Under the hood of the Sapphire GX is an Intel Core i9-14900HX, up to 64GB dual-channel DDR5 RAM, up to 4TB Gen4 SSD storage, and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 accelerated graphics. Besides that, the new model also comes with a 99Wh battery, Thunderbolt 4 support, up to Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX connectivity, and offers compatibility with external water cooling modules.
As with most products by Illegear, you can choose to customise the laptop’s loadout through its website, though keep in mind that doing so will affect its overall cost. On that note, the Sapphire GX starts from RM10,199, and the company is also offering those who pre-order from now until the end of February 2024 with a 5% cash rebate and more.
Alongside the premium model, Illegear also introduced updated Mach 15 and Onyx VX laptops, which now comes with i5-12450H and i7-13620H CPU options. The former can be equipped with up to NVIDIA RTX 4070 graphics acceleration, whereas users can choose between the RTX 4050 or RTX 4060 GPUs for the latter.
The Mach 15 starts from RM4,199 and the Onyx VX starts from RM4,799, with pre-orders now available via the brand’s official website. Illegear adds that early adopters of either model are also entitled to 5% cash rebate, 16GB RAM, Purchase-within-purchase (PWP) discounts on gears, and more.
