Touch ‘n Go eWallet To Impose Fee On Credit Card Reloads Over RM1,000

However, it will only be applicable for manual credit card reloads.

Touch ‘n Go eWallet has quietly revised its policy regarding credit card reloads, which will cost some users extra to transfer their balance. Specifically, TnG will impose the 1% fee on all manual credit card reloads exceeding RM1,000, which will also make it transferable.

In case you can’t recall, the eWallet started implementing a RM5,000 transferable limit on credit card reloads last year to deter credit card cash-outs. Then, it lowered the limit to just RM1,000 this year but gave users the option to make that non-transferable balance transferable if you’re willing to pay a 1% fee.

TNG eWallet reloadThe new policy, issued on 10 October and will go into effect starting 1 November 2023, will automatically make any manual reloads over RM1,000 using credit cards transferable and the extra fee will be charged. This means that even if you have no desire to transfer the funds to other accounts, you will still have to pay the administration fee regardless.

It’s important to note that the policy specifically states “manual reloads”, which most likely means that this policy won’t be imposed on auto-reloads or quick payments using credit cards. This means that TnG eWallet still lets you reload with credit cards for free as long as it’s under the quota, while competitors such as BigPay charge up to 3%. Meanwhile, ShopeePay does not charge extra for credit card top-ups but automatically deems the balance as non-transferable.
