Last month, AirAsia announced that its superapp will be renamed to airasia MOVE. At the time, it was noted that its financial service BigPay will also be embedded into the superapp as part of the process. Today, the service has announced that it will also be the exclusive wallet for payments within the app.

This allows BigPay users to use funds within their account for just about anything that is offered in the airasia MOVE superapp in a more seamless manner. In the same vein it will also be possible for users to check their balance within said app directly. Naturally, you’ll have to spend some time linking the two first. Taking the embedment further, the company says that users will soon be able to sign up for a BigPay account from the superapp directly. This will come in a few months, but no exact date was provided.

For now, linking the two is done via the airasia MOVE superapp, by tapping the BigPay widget at the top of the screen. Tapping the “Link Account” option will launch the BigPay app, prompting you to log in, with the process being completed with verification via OTP.

To promote the use of this “seamless payment experience” as the company calls it, users who pay for things within the airasia MOVE superapp via their linked BigPay accounts will also get to enjoy a number of exclusive perks. These include a five percent discount for AirAsia flights, or flights on other airlines sold within the app, as well as RM50 off hotels on their first booking. You’ll also get twice the usual amount of airasia points when paying for these using BigPay.

More perks include exclusive sale for BigPay users, as well as priority access to other airasia promotions. The company says that a “wider suite of financial services” will be made available via the superapp.
