The smart #1 electric SUV was announced last year, but at the time, the company did not reveal details on what you need to do to get one. Now, over a year later, it is revealed that you do so via an app. The app in question is named Hello smart, by Proton New Energy Technology, or Pro-Net, the distributor for the brand in the local market.

Paultan.org reports that bookings for the smart #1 will see those invited to exclusive previews given priority. But even if you’re not among the lucky few, you can still do so via the app. This is despite there being no official announcement for this just yet.

According to the report, the smart #1 comes in two variants, Premium and Brabus. The former has a rear-mounted electric motor that provides 272 PS (268 hp or 200 kW) and 343 Nm of torque. Paired with it is a 66kW lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) battery which gives the car a range of 440km. In terms of speed, the vehicle can do 0 – 100km/h in 6.7 seconds, with a top speed of 180km/h.

As the name implies, the Brabus version of the smart #1 has a total output of 428 PS (422 hp or 315 kW) and 543 Nm of torque. The battery looks to be the same here, but but with the 0 -1000km/h time down to 3.9 seconds, at the cost of range going down to 400km. Another addition with this version of the EV is another electric motor for the front wheels.

smart #1 comes with an onboard 22 kW AC Type 2 charger that brings the battery charge from 10% to 80% in three hours. There’s also DC CCS2 charger that can do the same in 30 minutes.

The report notes that the process of booking the smart #1 via the Hello smart app involves a booking fee of RM1,000. That being said, there is still no official pricing for the EV itself is awaiting an official launch in the fourth quarter.
