Three months after its initial debut in China and just a week after its discovery in SIRIM’s database, Xiaomi has officially confirmed that it will indeed launch the new Pad 6 in Malaysia. While no exact date has yet been disclosed just yet, the company did reveal that the tablet will arrive in the local market sometime this month.

Interestingly, Xiaomi did not refer to the upcoming release as a series, which indicates that we may only see one variant of the Pad 6 to be sold in the country. Just in case you missed it, the initial launch in China saw the introduction of two models under the brand’s latest tablet line-up: a standard model, and a high-end Pro variant. The latter of which is the one expected to be missing from the local launch, especially given the fact that only the former was discovered in SIRIM’s database.

To recap, the vanilla variant of the Xiaomi Pad 6 features an 11-inch IPS LCD display with 1800 x 2880 pixel resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It also comes with a quad stereo speaker setup, a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, but no 3.5mm headphone jack.

Under its hood is a Snapdragon 870 5G octa-core chipset with Adreno 650 GPU, as well as up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. In regards to memory options, keep in mind that the specifications mentioned are based on its launch in China, and these may differ for the local release. Apart from that, the Pad 6 is equipped with 8,849mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.

For imaging, situated on the back of the tablet is a lone 13MP wide camera with dual LED flash, which is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps or 1080p at up to 60fps. Meanwhile, found in front is a modest 8MP selfie camera that can capture 1080p footage at 30fps.

And in case you’re wondering, the Pro variant is mostly similar to its sibling, except for its chipset, battery capacity, charging rate, and camera sensors. More specifically, this variant comes with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, a 8,600mAh battery with 67W fast charging support, a 50MP rear camera with a 2MP depth sensor, and a 20MP front-facing shooter.

For your reference, the Xiaomi Pad 6 starts from CNY1,899 (~RM1,223) in China, while the Pro starts from CNY2,399 (~RM1,546). Both variants are offered in black, blue, and gold colourways.
