Xiaomi has officially revealed its plan to release the Redmi A2+ in Malaysia which will be taking place next month. We first noticed of the company’s intention last month after the phone was listed inside the SIRIM’s database in late February although the announcement today did not mention the non-Plus model.

In general, the A2+ is a rather modest device that is powered by a MediaTek Helio G36 processor alongside 3GB LPDDR4X RAM. Interestingly, the Malaysian variant was equipped with 64GB internal storage which is twice the amount of storage space that was listed on Xiaomi’s global website and if that is not enough, owners can choose to expand the phone’s storage with a microSD card of up to 1TB.

The 192g dual-SIM LTE phone also features a 6.52-inch HD+ display which houses a 5MP f/2.2 selfie camera within its teardrop notch. On its back, there is also an 8MP f/2.0 camera that is accompanied by a secondary QVGA depth sensor and there is also a fingerprint sensor nearby the phone’s camera module which is the only major factor that differentiates the A2+ from the standard A2.

Alongside the ability to support Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, Xiaomi has also equipped the device with a 3.5mm headphone jack and users can activate its FM radio function once they plugged a wired headphones into the port. Completing the phone’s general specifications is a large 5000mAh battery that supports 10W fast chargers although some may not happy to see the A2+ still carries a Micro USB port.

Complete with a textured back cover, the phone can be obtained in Black, Light Blue, and Light Green through Xiaomi’s Shopee store as well as various Xiaomi retailers throughout the country.

[UPDATE (29 Apr / 11:30AM): Xiaomi has changed the release date from 30 April to 9 May.]
