Earlier this month, the Malaysian Football League (MFL) which is responsible for the operation of the local football league system announced two entities as the official broadcaster of MFL’s Liga Malaysia (Liga M) for the 2023 season. One of them is Astro which has since laid down its plan for all the leagues and tournaments that are under Liga M’s wings.

In general, Liga M for this season consisted of six competitions – three of them are considered major outings including Liga Super, Piala FA, and Piala Malaysia. The other three are the Piala Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (more known as the Piala Sumbangsih), MFL Challenge Cup, and MFL Cup (the under-23 squad league).

Out of these competitions, the three major events as well as Piala Sumbangsih on 23 February will be shown on Astro through two new Arena Bola channels (CH803 and CH804). To be made available starting from 23 February, all the matches and contents will be shown in full HD while fans will also be able to stream them via Astro GO.

On top of that, the matches and highlights will be made available through On Demand as well. The Liga M matches and contents will be shown on Astro’s main platform as well as NJOI and Sooka but of course, each of them is priced differently.

For starters, Liga M 2023 will be part of Astro Sports Pack without additional costs. On another hand, non-Sports Pack customers can add the Liga M pass for RM9.99 per month which is currently being offered at RM4.99 per month for the first three months.

Alternatively, non-Sports Pack customers can also catch selected matches on RTM channels. Astro has confirmed that these RTM matches can be viewed on their platform without any restrictions.

Meanwhile, NJOI customers can obtain the Liga M Pack which costs RM29 per month or go for the Sports Mega Pack Baharu which is inclusive of other sports content for RM70 per month. These packs also include complimentary streaming access through Sooka.

Speaking about Sooka which is Astro’s freemium streaming service that is available for non-Astro/NJOI users, the platform provides single match passes that cost RM4.90 per match. Alternatively, there is also the Liga M Pass which costs RM28.90 per month.

Not surprisingly, all Liga M contents will be part of the VIP+Sports and VIP TV monthly plans that are priced at RM41.90 and RM62.90, respectively. Just like the rollout of Arena Bola channels, the Liga M passes on Sooka will be made available for purchase starting from 23 February onwards.
