Huawei Mate 50 Shows Up In SIRIM Database

This should mean a local launch at some point.

Huawei launched its Mate 50 flagship devices in its home market of China last month. It looks like at least one of the devices will be made available on our shores at some point. This is because the base model Mate 50 has appeared in the SIRIM database. Approved just today, the Huawei Mate 50 comes with the model number CET-LX9.

That being said, it doesn’t look like the Pro model of the device has made its way here. At least, not yet. But for what it’s worth, the company is inviting potential customers to an “exclusive” first-hand preview of the device at selected experience stores. And featured on the sign up page is the Pro model.

In case you missed it, the Huawei Mate 50 comes with a 6.7-inch OLED 1212 x 2616 display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 for its chipset rather than the company’s own Kirin entry, which is a little surprising. Also a part of the spec sheet is 8GB of RAM, and a choice between 128GB and 512GB of storage space. Its battery is rated at 4460mAh, supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging, as well as 7.5W reverse charging.

For its cameras, the Huawei Mate 50 comes with a 50MP main + 13MP wide angle + 12MP telephoto camera combo at the back. The front-facing camera is a 13MP shooter sitting in a punch hole cutout. The company also says that the phone comes with its own XMAGE imaging system.

With all that being said, Huawei has not said anything about a Mate 50 launch locally at the time of writing. That could change in the near future. And that will probably be the time we find out what the device will cost locally, as well as if the Pro version is really not being brought into the local market.
