vivo has brought in yet another entry-level smartphone into the local market, the vivo Y16. The phone was unveiled last month and seems to be the follow-up to the Y15 from two years ago with a bigger display and an improved SoC although it still retains the same battery capacity.

The phone sports a 6.51-inch 720p LCD display with a plastic chassis that seems to have a shiny finish. The brand claims that the back of the phone is both anti-fingerprint and scratch resistant although it lacks water and dust resistance capability which is something that you don’t usually expect at this price point anyway.

The Y16 runs on a MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core chipset together with 4GB of RAM and can be obtained with storage options of up to 128GB. Users can choose to utilize 1GB from the internal storage as virtual RAM while they can also utilize a microSD card to further expand the phone’s storage.

For photography, the phone features a dual-camera setup on the back using a 13MP primary sensor alongside a 2MP macro lens, which is advertised to be able to take photos as close as 4 cm. For selfies, the teardrop notch on the display houses a 5MP camera.

The Y16 can be unlocked through a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and connectivity-wise, it supports Bluetooth 5.0, 4G, and dual-band Wi-Fi. Powering the budget-friendly phone is a hefty 5,000mAh battery which the company claims to provide an all-day battery life with up to 18 hours of video streaming. As for charging, the phone supports a power adapter with ratings of up to 10W.
