realme today has officially launched a new sub-RM500 smartphone for the Malaysian market with the narzo 50i Prime. It is an entry-level handset that is equipped with an octa-core Unisoc chipset, a single primary shooter on its back and 5,000 mAh battery capacity, among other things. And as you may recall, the phone was first unofficially brought to light via a leak shared by Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka OnLeaks) back in June.

The realme narzo 50i Prime features a notched 6.5-inch IPS LCD display which features a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9, while on its back is a rear case that sports a “Vertical Stripe” design that is offered in either Mint Green or Dark Blue colours. Additionally, the phone relies on a microUSB port instead of USB-C for charging and data transfer, and there’s also a 3.5mm jack for head/earphones. Being a budget-friendly release, the phone lacks a fingerprint scanner of any sort.

Under the hood of the new entry-level narzo model features a 4G-enabled Unisoc Tiger T612 chipset, which is accompanied by a Mali-G57 GPU, up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage, with expandable memory support via microSD. Meanwhile, powering the phone is a 5,000 mAh battery that is claimed to be able to last up to 45 days on standby, though it does not feature any fast charging capabilities. Other than that, it also comes with Android 11 via the Realme UI Go interface, FM radio capability, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

Situated on the back of the narzo 50i Prime is a lone 8MP f/2.0 primary camera with AI image capture features and 4X digital zoom. As for selfies and video calls, situated within the notch on the phone’s display is a 5MP f/2.2 front-facing camera.

Some may have noticed that the specifications of this particular model sounds awfully familiar to another entry-level handset from the brand – more specifically, the realme C30, which was launched in Malaysia last month. In fact, both devices feature the same display, internal hardware and imaging system, with the only difference being the different rear panel design.

And the similarities doesn’t end there either, as both the realme narzo 50i Prime and realme C30 are priced at RM 429 for the 3GB + 32GB configuration and RM 499 for the 4GB + 64GB. However, it’s worth noting that consumers can score the newer model at an even lower price for a limited time during the brand’s upcoming 8.8 narzo Day Flash Sale on Lazada. During the one-day promotion, both configurations of the narzo 50i Prime will retail at RM 369 and RM 429 respectively.
