Razer has not touched its Deathstalker range of keyboards in a long time. Until today, that is, as the brand has announced three new keyboards into the range – the Deathstalker V2, V2 Pro and V2 Pro Tenkeyless.

Back in the day, the original Deathstalker had very basic membrane switches. In its new incarnation, the family sports low-profile optical switches instead. Which is nice, but this usually also translates to higher prices, which we’ll get to in a bit.

Starting with the basic Razer Deathstalker V2, this serves as the baseline as to what you can expect from the series. As mentioned earlier, you get low-profile optical keys, and these are rated for a 70 million keystroke lifespan. They also come in two variants – the linear red switch, and the clicky purple switch. Why it’s not just called blue is a mystery that only the company can solve.

The usual switches aside, the Razer Deathstalker V2 also comes with a media play / pause button on the top right corner, as well as a volume roller. As usual, using the Razer Synapse software you can change these to do other things too. Then there’s Chroma RGB lighting on the low profile frame, the latter of which means easier cleaning when the time comes. There’s also a detachable USB-C cable for easier transporting.

Moving on to the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro, this is basically the same keybaord, only with wireless operating capabilities. These come in the form of Bluetooth 5.0 and a 2.4GHz wireless dongle. Battery life to support these two modes are rated at 40 hours. As for the Deathstalker V2 Pro Tenkeyless, again this is the same keyboard, just without the number pad.

For their prices, the basic Razer Deathstalker V2 is priced at RM799 which, to be honest, is pretty steep. The Pro model comes in at RM999, while the Tenkeyless version costs RM929. While they are listed on the official Razer online store, they are not actually available for purchase just yet. If you choose to, you can have the company notify you when it does become available.

UPDATE 1:10 PM: Razer says that the new Deathstalker V2 family of keyboards will be available in Malaysia starting 26 August.

Incidentally, Razer has passed us a Deathstalker V2 Pro with red keys for review. We’re still in the process of reviewing it, but stay tuned for when it comes up.
