It’s barely been a month since the announcement of Google’s Pixel 7 and 7 Pro devices, but already, news about another Pixel device is being churned out. More specifically, we could be looking at a Pixel smartphone with high-end hardware and display.

The existence of the high-end Pixel device, codenamed “G10”, was first discovered by 9to5Google, who uncovered evidence of the phone while scouring through the Android Open Source Project code (AOSP), which is publicly available. As a quick note, the G10 code isn’t familiar and doesn’t seem to be related to the Pixel 7 Pro or the rumoured foldable Pixel smartphone. Amidst the search, the site also managed to uncover two additional device names, both named after feline species: Felix and Lynx. It’s likely that the first name is referencing the Pixel 7a, but Lynx could actually be the code for the aforementioned Pixel Notepad foldable that was recently delayed once more.

Besides that, the AOSP page doesn’t produce any further details regarding the G10. Some obvious points, though, is that the phone is obviously an Android device and that the processor itself is based on Google’s Tensor chip. Having said that, the site also surmises that the G10 may have identical specifications to the Pixel 6 Pro, including the same 1440 x 3120 display resolution, the same 120Hz refresh rate, and the same 71 x 155mm dimensions.

As a quick primer, the Pixel 6 Pro and its non-Pro sibling launched in October last year, and was one of the first devices in which Google officially ditched its dependency on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoC, and switched to its own in-house Tensor chipset. Other specs of the phone included 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, along with a dual main camera module, made up of a 50MP main, a 12MP ultra-wide with an LDAF sensor, and a 48MP telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom.

Again, these are just theories being thrown to the wind and as it stands, there is still no concrete evidence as to what the device in question really is, nor what sort of product we can actually, truly expect. On that note, we’ll just have to play the waiting game.
