TM: Broadband Lite 1Mbps Was Launched In 2015; Current Offerings Are Now Under Review

Judging from the comments on our Facebook page after the report went online, it is quite clear that many are unhappy with TM’s so-called move to reintroduce the Broadband Lite 1Mbps plan. Came with a 1GB quota, it is clearly not suitable for consumers in 2021.

TM had subsequently reached out to Lowyat.NET earlier today to provide some clarifications surrounding the Broadband Lite 1Mbps plan. For starters, the company said that it was introduced in 2015 for light users in Streamyx areas although this and other Streamyx-related plans will be phased out as TM’s fiberisation effort progressed further.

On another hand, TM also said that the team was updating the original link for the very thread in the unifi Community that sparked this whole controversy, as the link has since expired. Hence, the company has apologised for the confusion that it may have caused.

Not surprisingly, TM also took the opportunity to highlight its Jaringan Prihatin plans under unifi Mobile in its written response to Lowyat.NET. Subsidised by the government, eligible B40 customers can choose either unifi Mobile 39 postpaid plan or #BEBAS prepaid and obtain up to an additional 30GB of LTE data per month for one year although they have to subscribe to either plan before 31 July 2021.

All in all, the written response was nothing out of the ordinary as far as a standard apology statement goes. However, its closing remarks are still quite interesting though:

“TM and unifi are in the midst of reviewing our offerings to suit current customer and market demands, and will update in due course. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to serve all our customers better,”

To us, that sounds like there might be new unifi plans coming their way soon. However, the company said that it has nothing further to share at the moment.
