Garmin has announced a new fitness-oriented smartwatch designed for endurance athletes known befittingly as the Enduro. What’s even more conforming in regards to the wearable’s name is its impressive battery life, which the company claims is able to last over two months when used regularly as a smartwatch.

The new Enduro sports a round 1.4-inch display with a resolution of 280 x 280 pixels, which also features the company’s Power Glass technology for solar charging – much like last year’s Instinct Solar and Fenix 6 Solar series. As mentioned earlier, the company claims that the device is able to last up to 50 – 65 days on solar while in smartwatch mode, as well as 70 – 80 hours on GPS mode, and 130 days to one year on Battery Saver mode. Additionally, the watch is said to last up to 200 – 300 hours on Max Battery mode (which tracks GPS less frequently), and 65 – 95 days on Expedition Mode (where other watch functions except for Time and Date are limited, and GPS point is only recorded once an hour).

All of the aforementioned battery expectancies are assuming that the Enduro is used while exposed to sunlight 3 hours per day outside in 50,000 lux conditions. A charging cable is also included in its packaging in case of instances where you require the device to be charged via conventional means.

Garmin Enduro Battery Life

As with most modern day fitness smartwatches, especially by Garmin, you can expect the Enduro to be equipped with a variety of health tracking features. These include sensors for heart rate, Sp02, menstrual cycle, hydration and sleep tracking, as well as for other functions such as accelerometer, barometer, thermometer and so on. Other features include the company’s Body Battery tool, smartphone connectivity (both Android and iOS), smart notifications, music control, Garmin Pay, and much more.

The smartwatch is offered in two case options: stainless steel or diamond-like carbon coating (DLC). It is also waterproof at 10 ATMs and also comes with the new UltraFit lightweight nylon strap that offers added comfort for hours of extended wear.

The new Garmin Enduro is priced at GBP700 (~RM3,926) for the stainless steel model, and GBP800 (~ RM4,487) for the DLC version. Its availability in Malaysia has not been announced at this time.

The Enduro is definitely a watch to look out for. This is especially for those who desire more in terms of battery longevity for fitness activities as well as regular use, and also an alternative yet environmentally friendly charging approach unlike other smartwatches that are currently available in the market.
