It’s the end of the year, and Apple has named a few games the best in the App Store of 2020. And it’s of little surprise that Genshin Impact has been awarded the title of the best iPhone game of the year.
Apple says that the game is notable for its positive cultural impact, helpfulness and importance. Which to be fair, just about any game would qualify, since they would mostly be effective tools to help escape reality. Which is why counterparts for Genshin Impact include Legends of Runeterra for the iPad game of the year, and Disco Elysium for the Mac game of the year.
Despite not being the “best”, Among Us is the most downloaded game of the year from the Apple App Store. This comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone at all, considering its breakout success, especially among the streaming crowd. Its sudden rise to popularity also helped it take the top spot from Call of Duty Mobile, another expected candidate for most downloaded game.
