OPPO To Unveil New Concept Phone With Rollable Display On Inno Day 2020

OPPO has teased that it will be unveiling a new concept smartphone with what appears to be a rollable display. The phone is slated to be shown off during the company’s Inno Day live stream event tomorrow on 17 November 2020.

The company took to its official Twitter and Weibo accounts to tease the new concept, along with an accompanying image that provides a glimpse of the device. “Big screen? Small screen? Infinite screen? In the future, your mobile phone may be able to retract freely,” it wrote in Weibo.

From the image, it appears that the OPPO device features a display with curved corners which could extend past the right side of its chassis. This would allow the phone to stretch its display from a portrait size to landscape, an approach that is somewhat similar but handled differently by foldable handsets such as the Huawei Mate Xs and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2.

We’ve been exploring new shapes and forms.

It’s worth noting that OPPO isn’t the first to showcase or tease a smartphone with a rollable display. Another phone maker, TCL, originally unveiled their concept model earlier this year in March, and Korean tech company LG teased their own device during the launch of its LG Wing smartphone in September.

More details regarding the OPPO concept phone’s specifications and design will be unveiled tomorrow during the event which will be live streamed via Twitter.
