UPDATE (17 Oct – 8:24 PM): Maxis has put up its VoLTE website once again alongside accompanying support pages.  Read more for further details.

UPDATE (16 Oct – 2:45 PM): Maxis somehow has decided to delete the official page as well as support pages for VoLTE on its website. But we do have a copy of them though, so scroll below to check them out.

ORIGINAL STORY (16 Oct – 2:02 PM):

Better late than never is a mantra that we have heard numerous times and it certainly holds true when it comes to the implementation of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) by Maxis. As per its promise last year, Maxis VoLTE is finally here.

According to the telco’s official website, its VoLTE service is available for Maxis Postpaid customers as well as for those who are on Hotlink Postpaid plan. For Maxis Business and Hotlink Prepaid customers, they will only receive it at a later date although Maxis didn’t specify the actual rollout timeline.

Customers will not be charged extra to utilise VoLTE and they don’t have to change to a new SIM card too. However, the feature is currently available only on selected devices as shown below:

While the settings to enable VoLTE may be different from one phone to another, you may be able to find it within the Mobile Network settings of your phone. For further information, head on to Maxis official website right here.

(Thanks for the tips, @KevinNgTK!)

UPDATE (16 Oct – 2:45 PM):

Maxis somehow has decided to delete the official page as well as support pages for VoLTE on its website right after this story was published. It was done without any explanation and our efforts to obtain clarifications from Maxis were meet with silence from the telco.

But we do have a copy of them though:

The sudden disappearance of the web page, as well as the accompanying support documents, may indicate that the telco is not yet ready to offer VoLTE to customers. In fact, Maxis customers may encounter the notice below if you choose VoLTE on your iPhone:

As shown on the image above, Twitter user @KevinNgTK has since shared a screenshot of his conversation with a Maxis customer service agent on Twitter which stated that the VoLTE implementation has been postponed.

So, it looks like the VoLTE’s webpage and support documents may have been online earlier than the telco has intended. Nevertheless, we do wish Maxis would be more upfront and willing to provide some clarification, instead of radio silence.

UPDATE (17 Oct – 8:24 PM):

After taking them down yesterday just as our story went live, Maxis today has put up the official webpage for its VoLTE feature once again. This also applies to the accompanying support pages.

At the same time, reports have poured in that customers already able to utilize Maxis VoLTE feature on their phones. If your iPhone is part of the list mentioned above, you should be to notice that your connection remained in 4G when you make a call.

Maxis VoLTE on iPhone XR and iPhone 11 Pro, as shared by forumer Addworld and vez.

On Android devices, your phone may display VoLTE icon as well on the status bar. However, the rollout is apparently being done in stages as noted by forumer Dozz based on a conversation with Maxis’ customer service agent via WhatsApp.
