Maybank today has unveiled the new MAE by Maybank2u app which is being positioned as the next evolution of the bank’s digital effort. Originally launched in 2019, MAE begins its life as the bank’s e-wallet service which was integrated into the Maybank2u app.

Through the new dedicated MAE app, users can still access to Maybank2u services as per usual. However, the app offers new features which made it much more versatile than the existing Maybank2u app and also extend the capability of MAE e-wallet itself.

For example, they can now obtain a dedicated Visa debit card for MAE which allows them to utilise funds from the e-wallet alongside the app’s DuitNow QR-based Scan & Pay feature. Maybank also claims that users can obtain better foreign exchange rates when they use the MAE Visa debit card overseas or when making online purchases.

In addition to that, users can apply the card which comes with RM 8 annual fee, directly through the new MAE app and receive it through mail within seven working days.

Aside from that, the new app also comes with a feature called Tabung which allows users to set up a money box within their MAE account. Each user can have up to 10 Tabung’s that can have maturity dates between 1 to 120 months and they can be funded through periodic auto deduction, manual transfer, or Booster add-ons.

Speaking about the Booster add-ons, they currently consist of three methods. One being the Spare Change whereby users can choose to round up their purchases and the additional differences in pricing will be directed into their Tabung.

The second method is called Scan & Save in which discounts that users receive from the Scan & Pay promo codes would be turned into funds for their Tabung. Not to forget, there is also the Guilty Pleasure Booster which would automatically deduct a set amount of money and transfer it into the users’ Tabung when they exceed their daily spending limit for categories that they can select inside the MAE app.

Meanwhile, customers can also choose to create Group Tabung with up to five other MAE users. The new MAE app is also equipped with another feature called Expenses which automatically keep track of users’ spending habit and present them into properly categorised lists as well as graphs.

The new MAE by Maybank2u app is now readily available for download from Google Play for devices with Android 8.0 and above. Meanwhile, iPhone users with iOS version 12 and above can also download the app from the App Store immediately.
