Here Are The Phones On Offer By Maxis For RM25

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Maxis is offering a selection of smartphones for RM 25 on a daily basis for 25 days. The telco didn’t reveal in-depth details about the promotion during the original announcement last week although it did mention that the phone list includes Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G, Huawei P40, and Apple iPhone 11.

Only when the official site for the promo went online yesterday that we were able to see the full list of the RM 25 phone. As it turns out, there are also additional OPPO, Samsung, and Vivo phones up for grabs too but in terms of the exact amount for each phone, it depends from one model to another:

According to the promo’s FAQ, these phones will be made available at random hours throughout the day via the Deals section of the Maxis and Hotlink Postpaid app. The FAQ document also pointed out that phones that have been claimed for the day would be labelled as “Fully Redeemed”:

When we snapped the image above at 4:49 PM, all 25 phones that have been allocated for today have been redeemed. So, it seems like the distribution of these phones is not being done in a gradual manner as well which doesn’t make things easier.

Furthermore, there is no notification provided to users by Maxis and Hotlink Postpaid app whenever these phones are being made available for redemption. Not to forget, Maxis is currently serving around 3.41 million postpaid and 411,000 fibre subscribers, according to the telco’s financial results that it announced last month [pdf].

So, consider this: there are millions of eligible customers that can get their hands on the 625 phones that Maxis is going to offer through the 25-day promotion. Add a highly random distribution method into the picture and immediately it sounds like you can only obtain those phones through pure luck.
