The LG Wing Is A Very Interesting Take On A Dual Display Smartphone

The last phone we saw coming out of LG was the Velvet, which doesn’t stand out much aside from its simple name. But the company also has LG Wing reportedly in the works. And now, there’s a video of the phone out in the wild. Or, at least a near-final version of the phone.

For a dual display phone concept, the LG Wing is pretty interesting. For one, the device isn’t a tablet that folds into a phone the way its rivals are. Instead, the two displays are parallel to one another initially. One side slides either up or down depending on your perspective, before finally twisting into a T formation. For those who remember, this is pretty similar to the phone used by Tony Stark at the beginning of the very first Iron Man movie.

In the 10-second video obtained by Android Authority, the LG wing is seen being used with a navigation app. The secondary screen is used as a media player widget, and it’s also where the call interface shows up when you get one coming in. But it’s interesting to see no notch on either, which suggests either no front-facing cameras, or more optimistically, ones that are beneath the display.

To be clear, Wing is currently the codename for the as of yet unannounced LG phone. But it’s still currently rumoured to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 or 765G chipset, a 6.8-inch main display and a 4-inch secondary one.

Considering this is a near-final version, an official unveiling may be in the pipeline. Though considering this is a new and untested concept, it’s likely to be limited in number. And each one will have a massive price tag to match, much like foldable devices.
