The National Security Council (NSC) has announced that Phase 2 of the Movement Control Order (MCO) will commence on 1 April 2020. The ministry assures that the second phase is not to be confused with the enhanced version of MCO that has been applied to high alert areas such as Hulu Langat and Simpang Renggam.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob states that starting in April, the MCO will implement more restrictions to ensure that the public will continue to stay at home throughout the period. He said that all businesses, including shops, supermarkets, hypermarkets, and fuel stations will only operate from dawn to dusk at 8am to 8pm nationwide.

Sidang Media Khas – Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (30 Mac 2020)

1. PKP Fasa Kedua: Waktu operasi semua premis perniagaan barang keperluan harian termasuk Pasaraya dan Pasar, 8.00 pagi hingga 8.00 malam

2. Operasi Stesen Minyak dihadkan dari jam 8.00 pagi hingga 8.00 malam

Additionally, taxi and e-hailing services will see reduced hours of 6am to 10pm, while operating hours for public transport providers will remain unchanged at 6am to 10am and 5pm to 10pm daily. Ismail adds that commercial vehicles are encouraged to only operate from 7pm until 7am during Phase 2 of MCO.

Furthermore, the minister stresses that social activities such as gatherings or parties are not allowed to take place in gated communities. However, he also notes that people with disabilities or autism are allowed to seek personal therapy during the MCO period, but not in a group.
