Luno Partners Up With Shopee; Offers Bitcoin Vouchers On E-Commerce Platform

Luno, the cryptocurrency exchange, recently announced that it entered into a partnership with the local online retailer, Shopee. The partnership will allow Luno to provide Shopee customers with access to deals, discounts, and special vouchers.

Specifically, Shopee is offering Bitcoin vouchers with values ranging between RM15 and RM200. And at prices ranging between 0.88 sen an RM189.88. As mentioned, these are discounted prices and they are meant to entice newcomers to Luno.

Luno officially became the first cryptocurrency exchange to legitimately operate in Malaysia back in November last year. While the exchange technically began operations in 2015, it hit a hurdle with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in 2017. Before ultimately receiving approval from the Securities Commission (SC) to trade in both Bitcoin and Ethereum. A month later, Luno officially appointed AmBank as its primary banker for any and all its exchanges in Malaysia.

There is, naturally, a catch behind this. Firstly, in order to redeem the voucher, you will need to be a new Luno customer. Upon officially registering yourself, you will need to make a deposit between RM15 and RM1000 via the official Luno app, which is available on both Google Play and the App Store. Once you’ve topped up your Luno wallet with said amount, the value of the voucher you paid for will automatically be added into the wallet as well.

Luno says that it expects this partnership will help drive massive awareness and adoption of cryptocurrency and that this would make it easier for Shopee users to “access crypto and begin their investment journey”.

At the time of writing, the average value of Bitcoin is sitting between RM35000 and RM38000. Also, you can visit the exchange’s official Shopee page if you’re thinking of making an investment in cryptocurrency. On that note, the promotion will be in effect from today until 10 February.
