If you are so tired of all those advertisements on YouTube, the video depository division of Google has finally given the option for those in Malaysia to skip them once and for all. Of course, the ability to watch YouTube ad-free does come at a cost though, in the form of YouTube Premium subscription.

Aside from the removal of ads, YouTube Premium also provides the ability to play videos on the background while your mobile device’s screen is off and when you switch to a different app. In addition to the access to YouTube Originals contents, there is also the ability to download videos and playlists for offline viewing.

Not to forget, YouTube Premium subscription also includes access to YouTube Music Premium which also provides ads-free experience and offline viewing but more towards music contents. There is also the added advantage of music playback through Google Home and Chromecast Audio.

In terms of pricing, the individual YouTube Premium subscription is available for RM 17.90 while a family membership which provides access up to five family members in the same household goes for RM 26.90 per month. If you prefer just the YouTube Music Premium subscription alone, the monthly fee is slightly lower at RM 14.90 for an individual account and RM 22.90 for a family membership.

For iPhone and iPad users that are signing up for the service through Apple’s own backend, the monthly pricing is much higher due to additional iTunes charges at RM 23.90 for YouTube Premium individual plan and RM 35.90 for a family membership. Similarly, YouTube Premium subscription for Apple users is listed at RM 19.90 and RM 29.90 respectively.

That being said, if you sign up for the service through YouTube’s Android app or website, you still can utilize your YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium on Apple devices. So yup, the decision is on your hands.
