The last time Vivo announced a new phone on our shores, it was the V15, which came shortly after the V15 Pro. And it looks like the brand will be making another announcement soon. On its Facebook page, Vivo Malaysia posted a teaser for what looks like a new series of smartphones. From the letter S, it’s likely that we’re looking at an S series making its way here.
But what exactly is the S series? Judging from the company’s phones launched in its home country, the S series likely refers to two phones. they are the Vivo S1 and S1 Pro. And they are both very similar to the aforementioned V15 and V15 pro. To start, the Vivo S1 Pro is essentially identical to the V15 Pro, with the only difference being that the former has a 256GB storage option.
And then there’s the Vivo S1, with only real difference between it and the Vivo V15 are two of its cameras. Its main camera is a 12MP shooter as opposed to the V15’s 25MP. The front-facing popup camera is also a 25MP unit instead of 32MP. The Vivo S1 also has a marginally smaller battery, rated at 3940mAh instead of 4000mAh like the Vivo V15 has.
Vivo has not indicated when it will be making the official announcement, or even if it is indeed bringing the S1 and S1 Pro into Malaysia. The company does say that more information will be available on its site and Facebook page, so we’ll have to wait until the company is ready to make the announcement.
