Who is the Random Kid at the End of Avengers: Endgame?

Avengers: Endgame spoilers ahead…

Avengers: Endgame saw a ton of surprising cameos. Of course, we got a quick little moment with Stan Lee (RIP) that made our eyes water, a brilliant cameo by director Joe Russo who talked about a date he went on with another man (yes, he’s the MCU’s first openly gay character), a Nick Fury appearance and many many more. But one particular cameo left viewers scratching their heads in bafflement.

Towards the end of the film at Tony Stark’s funeral, we see the camera pan and glide towards the many, many characters from the MCU who are in attendance. Amongst the mix, we see an unrecognisable mysterious teenager standing there as well. If your immediate thought was “who on god’s green earth is that guy?” you’re not alone. But guess what? You’ve seen that kid before and you’ve seen him featured quite prominently. The reason why he’s unrecognisable is because the last time we saw him, he was a little kid.

Ty Simpkins Endgame

The kid is none other than Harley Keener, the boy played by Ty Simpkins in Iron Man 3. In that film, Tony gets stranded in Tennessee, feeling helpless and suffering from PTSD. The kid ultimately helps Tony get back on his feet and become Iron Man again. So, it’s not surprising to learn that both these characters remained friends throughout the years.

Ty Simpkins was 12 when Iron Man 3 graced the big screen back in 2013 and is now 17, so it makes sense that a lot of us found it difficult to recognise him immediately. Apart from Iron Man 3, Simpkins has also notably appeared in Jurassic World and The Nice Guys.

Avengers: Endgame official synopsis –
