Rapid KL Buses Are Going Fully Cashless From 15 April Onwards

Rapid KL recently has announced that it is implementing full electronic payment system to its buses. This move is similar to what the company has done to its MRT feeder buses earlier this year.

Once the implementation is in place, this means that passengers will only able to pay for their rides on RapidKL buses through Touch ‘n Go-based cards. However, the implementation will be done in stages starting with Ampang corridor on 15 April 2019.

The implementation notice inside Rapid KL bus T788 that covers LRT Universiti to Mid Valley route.

The full electronic payment system will then extend to Cheras, Sungai Besi, and Jalan Klang Lama corridors on 29 April before being applied to Damansara, Jalan Ipoh, and Jalan Pahang corridors on 13 May. As for the Federal Highway corridor, the implementation will take place starting from 27 May.

Rapid KL has released a table that listed down all the buses involved in the switch, according to their respective corridors:

Based on the FAQ document, you not able to top up Touch ‘n Go cards on the buses itself but interesting enough, you can still buy a new card directly from the bus captain in case you unexpectedly ended up taking a ride on a RapidKL bus. For more details, just head on to Rapid KL’s website.
