Qualcomm Wins Injunction Against Apple; Older iPhones Are Now Banned From Sale In China

Qualcomm has announced that the company has been granted preliminary injunctions by a court in China against Apple which resulted in the banning of the sale for certain iPhone models in China. The court order is related to a patent dispute between the two companies.

Among iPhone models that are involved in the court decision include iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. According to Qualcomm, one of the patents that were in question include the ability to adjust and reformat the size as well as the appearance of photographs.

Another patent involves the ability for users to manage applications using a touchscreen while viewing, navigating, and dismissing apps on their phones. Interestingly though, Apple has pointed out that the ban only applies to iPhone that using older operating system.

As all iPhones that are on sale in China already running on iOS 12, Apple stated that all of its iPhones are still available over there. Naturally, the company has also stated that it will pursue all of its legal options on this matter which means that the continues legal battles between Apple and Qualcomm might intensify further.
