The original Nubia Red Magic gaming phone immediately caught the attention of gamers throughout the world when it was officially revealed to the world earlier this year. First presented in prototype form at MWC 2018, now it is time to meet its successor: the Nubia Red Magic Mars.

Equipped with a 6-inch Full HD+ display, the new model is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. It can be obtained in three memory and storage configurations which include 6GB + 64GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 10GB + 256GB. The phone doesn’t support additional memory card though.

Being a gaming phone, it is not surprising that the Red Magic Mars comes with certain features that designed to help maximize the gaming experience on the phone. One such feature is a pair of touch-sensitive areas on the side of the phone which act as shoulder buttons just like a typical gamepad.

Red Magic Mars is also equipped with a linear motor that helped the phone deliver force feedback experience to gamers. Nubia has also spent some time on the audio department of the phone by providing a dual amplifier and DTS:X Ultra 7.1 surround sound support. Yes, the RGB strip is still there on Red Magic Mars as well.

For the new model, the company has also implemented a slightly different cooling solution. While several elements still remained identical to the original Red Magic gaming phone including the 3-layer graphene, convection cooling through four air vents and metal back cover that is coated with a material that promotes heat dissipation, the solution on Red Magic Mars offers an additional cooper-based vapor chamber.

Photography-wise, the Red Magic Mars comes standard with a new 16MP f/1.8 rear camera alongside an 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera. Pre-installed with Nubia’s own Red Magic OS 1.6 on top of the phone Android 9.0 Pie operating system, the phone is powered by a 3800mAh battery which supports fast chargers with ratings of up to 5V 3.2A.

In terms of pricing, the Red Magic Mars with 6GB/64GB configurations goes for CNY 2699 (about RM 1631) while the 8GB/128GB model is listed at CNY 3199 (~RM 1933). On another hand, the 10GB/256GB variant which also features a special camo colorway is priced at CNY 3999 (~RM 2417).

It is not known at the moment when Nubia will release its new gaming phone to markets outside of China though. We’ll keep you posted.
