Fujifilm X-T3 Offers 4K/60p Video With New 26MP X-Trans Sensor

Fujifilm has announced the availability of its latest entry in the X-T series, the X-T3. The camera boasts an impressive resume, which includes a burst mode that shoots up to 30 fps (in cropped mode) as well as 4K60p recording.

Inside, you get a brand new 26MP BSI X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor. This is fitted into a body that looks very similar to the X-T2. Fujifilm has also upgraded both the LCD and EVF, adding touch interactivity to the tilt-screen and increasing the resolution through the viewfinder by up to 3.69 million dots.

Previously, adding on the optional battery grip on the X-T2 will enable “boost mode” on the camera, which includes faster burst shot. With the X-T3, “boost mode” is now built-in, therefore negating the need for a battery grip. The new “Sports Finder” mode allows a 30 fps burst mode, albeit with a 1.25x crop factor. This is thanks to the quad-core image processor in the camera.

For video, the X-T3 can record F-Log footage from as low as ISO 640, with HLG support coming in September. Videographers will love some features such as separate microphone and headphone sockets, HDMI port and USB-C. Plus, the doors to each port can be removed if the camera is on a rig for easier access.

Here are some nerdy info for videographers – the X-T3 captures 4K60p video in both DCI and UHD while outputting 10-bit 4:2:2 video to an external recorder or internally recording 10-bit 4:2:0 video using H.265. Fujifilm also tweaked the sensor to reduce rolling shutter, as well as lower noise output using new algorithms.

The new Fujifilm X-T3 will be available from 20 September, and in two colours: black or silver. Two packages are available – the body alone will sell for US$1,499.95 (~RM6,216), while the option with the XF18-55 kit lens will set you back US$1,899.95 (~RM7,873)
