It’s official, folks. AMD has finally launched its much anticipated lineup of 2nd generation Ryzen Threadripper processors. For those who may be wondering, these new HEDT processors are the Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX, Threadripper 2970X, Threadripper 2950X, and Threadripper 2920X. All of these “monstrous” CPUs will be made available starting 13 August up to October 2018 respectively.

As mentioned in our previous article, AMD is introducing a new nomenclature for two of its newly launched Ryzen Threadripper processors. The “WX” branded CPUs are made to cater for professionals, while the familiar “X” series processors are aimed towards enthusiasts and PC gamers. The full specifications of these processors are listed below:

It’s worth noting that AMD’s 2nd Generation Ryzen Threadripper processors will work with existing X399 motherboards, since they are based off of the same socket: TR4. AMD boldly mentioned that it has managed to break the single socket overclocking record on Cinebench R15 with the Threadripper 2990WX, which achieved a score of 7,618 – the recored was previously owned by Intel with its Core i9-7880XE CPU (5,828 points).

AMD stated that its 32-core Threadripper 2990WX CPU is open for pre-order starting today, and will be made available starting 13 August. Pre-orders and market availability of all three other new Ryzen Threadripper processors will be announced in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, the release date for all four of these processors in Malaysia was not detailed by AMD at the time of writing. We’ll be sure to keep you updated should there be any announcement from AMD regarding the aforementioned matter.
