While it might not be the first company has adopted optical-based technology for gaming keyboard, the new Razer Huntsman should be able to generate significant buzz within the Cult of Razer fandom. Featuring a new key switch that the company calls Opto-Mechanical, Razer claimed that it able to deliver faster performance than standard mechanical key switch.

This is because the Razer Opto-Mechanical Switch uses light actuation as opposed to metal contact point. With that, it requires less actuation force and has lower actuation point which subsequently lead to faster response time.

With the ability to withstand up to 100 million keystrokes, Razer also stated that the design of its Opto-Mechanical switch has also resulted in balanced keypress and zero debounce delay. The company described the feel of its new optical-based switch as light and tactile that is almost similar to the existing Razer Green Mechanical Switch.

Of course, it goes without saying that the Huntsman keyboard also comes with customizable Razer Chrome RGB lights. Other than that, it also features 10-key rollover, 1000Hz ultrapolling capability, onboard storage that able to support up to 5 profiles, and braided fiber cable.

Available in two different variant, the standard Razer Huntsman is priced at RM 649. As for the Razer Huntsman Elite which comes with additional magnetic wrist rest, multi-function digital dial, dedicated media keys, and additional Chroma RGB underglow lights, it can be obtained for RM 949.

Both keyboard are readily available through Razer’s online store which means that you can expect them to appear at your favorite stores shortly.
