Dell Refreshes Alienware 15 and 17 Gaming Notebooks With Intel Core i9 CPU Running At 5GHz

Dell has refreshed its Alienware 15 and 17 gaming notebook lineup with the latest Intel 8th Gen Coffee Lake-H mobile processors. Even more surprising is one of the new CPU options available for the notebooks is the new 6-cores, 12-threads Core i9-8950HK processor with a maximum boost clockspeed of 5GHz.

It should be noted that the boost clockspeed of 5GHz is only available with the new Alienware notebooks. By default, the maximum boost clockspeed of the Core i9-8950HK is only rated at 4.8GHz.

The refreshed Alienware 15 and 17 also come with a new and improved Cryo-Tech v2.0 cooling solution. The new cooling solution uses fan blades that are 50% thinner than its predecessors, along with a vapor chamber that Dell says will help to cool down all six cores more efficiently.

Besides the CPU, standard customisation options still stand with the new Alienware 15 and 17. Some examples include a Full HD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and the choice between an AMD Radeon or (one of three) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10 Series GPUs.

Dell Malaysia still hasn’t announced if and when they would be bringing in the refreshed Alienware 15 and 17, or even if the Core i9 configuration would be made available. Suffice to say, that configuration won’t run cheap if Dell Malaysia does bring it in.
