The rush to fix the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities has not gone quite as smoothly as Intel has hoped. Some older processors based on the Haswell and Broadwell architecture have been reportedly been experiencing rebooting issues; a situation that Intel is working on resolving as soon as possible.
It’s unclear what is causing these reboots, but Intel is not the only one suffering from the problem. Microsoft also has the same experience with AMD powered processors at the moment; and has even halted updates for the moment.
From the looks of things, the two problems are related to fixing the Spectre vulnerability. Seeing that this is the flaw that affects both AMD and Intel processors. The fix is also said to cause a performance reduction in all systems, although only tests have been run on computers running on Windows thus far.
